Creating A Better Alternative to Dialysis
Our mission is to restore freedom, function, and independence in individuals with end stage kidney disease.
Holly™ is DESIGNED TO WORK Like a kidney
“An implantable continuous dialysis hemofiltration device blending hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis in one device.”
The goal of our technology is to serve as a more effective renal replacement therapeutic as it minimizes the burden of treatment, facilitates mobility, and reduces potential infection complications.
Improving Quality of Care
The Holly™ is not yet commercially available. Once available, eligibility to receive our device, Holly™ will be determined by an individual’s healthcare team including Nephrodite’s team of highly qualified health care provider experts. Once selected, a thorough discussion including device training and how to use it will be conducted with each patient and her/his family members.
The implantable portion of Holly™ is designed to be placed by a team of Surgeons, typically a Vascular Access Surgeon. The hemofilter of Holly™ needs to be surgically connected to an artery in the pelvic area near the lower abdomen, typically on the right side.
The device will continuously filter blood.
In addition, catheter tubing from the implanted device will be brought out through the skin and will be connected to a bag of dialysate fluid on a wearable and detachable vest. Patients will be taught to exchange the dialysate bag from their externalized catheter, ideally, every 4-6 hours during the day. The device is also designed to be compatible with larger dialysate bags can be used while at home or at nighttime. This can reduce the number of exchanges that a patient needs to perform.
The dialysate bag will be held on a wearable, detachable vest or a backpack depending on patient preference. In addition, a power pack and a small pump will be located on the vest or backpack. A home-based mechanical unit will also be available that replaces the vest or backpack, if that is preferred.
